The Ancient Trail
This section of the Annapurna Circuit follows ancient trade routes used for centuries by Tibetan merchants and local Gurung communities. The terraced hillsides show generations of agricultural adaptation to this harsh high-altitude environment.
The Landscape
At approximately 3,000 meters elevation, the terrain transitions from subtropical valleys to alpine desert. Sparse juniper trees and hardy grasses cling to the rocky slopes while massive 7,000+ meter peaks dominate the northern horizon.
The Journey
Trekkers on this 2-3 day section between Pisang and Manang acclimatize to altitude while experiencing one of the world's most dramatic mountain landscapes, with the Annapurna Massif and surrounding peaks providing a constant backdrop.
