A Monumental Artwork
The Fürstenzug (Procession of Princes) stands as one of the world's largest porcelain artworks, stretching 102 meters along the outer wall of the former Dresden Stable Yard. Created between 1871 and 1876 by artist Wilhelm Walther, this extraordinary mural depicts the 800-year lineage of Saxon rulers.
Craftsmanship and Durability
Originally painted in fresco technique, the mural was later recreated using approximately 23,000 Meissen porcelain tiles to ensure longevity. This innovative preservation method has allowed the artwork to survive World War II bombing and decades of exposure to the elements.
