The Jewel of the Silk Road
The Po-i-Kalyan complex stands as one of Central Asia's most magnificent architectural ensembles, a testament to Bukhara's golden age during the Timurid Renaissance.
Centuries of History
The Kalyan Minaret, rising 47 meters into the sky, was completed in 1127 and served as both a call-to-prayer tower and a watchtower. Despite Genghis Khan's destruction of Bukhara in 1220, he spared this magnificent structure.
Living Heritage
Today, the complex remains an active place of worship and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, drawing travelers who walk the same stone courtyards traversed by Silk Road merchants centuries ago.
