The Rock of Gibraltar has stood as a sentinel at the gateway between the Atlantic and Mediterranean for millennia. This British Overseas Territory rises 426 meters above sea level, its limestone cliffs formed during the Jurassic period.
From the summit viewing platform, visitors witness the dramatic convergence of continents—Europe to the north, Africa barely visible across the strait, and the endless blue of the Mediterranean stretching eastward.
The turquoise waters below cradle Gibraltar's beaches and harbor, while the winding roads carve through the rugged terrain where Barbary macaques roam freely among the sparse Mediterranean scrub.
