The Train Cemetery of Uyuni
On the outskirts of Uyuni, near the world's largest salt flats, lies an eerie museum of railway history. Dozens of steam locomotives and train cars from the 19th and early 20th centuries sit abandoned, slowly oxidizing under the harsh Andean sun.
These trains once carried minerals from the rich mines of Potosí to the Pacific coast. When mining declined, the trains were left to decay, creating one of Bolivia's most photographed tourist attractions.
