Laguna Verde sits at 4,300 meters above sea level in one of the most remote and pristine regions of the Bolivian Altiplano. The lake's distinctive green-blue coloration comes from arsenic and other minerals suspended in its waters.
This high-altitude desert environment, part of the greater Atacama region, features some of the most dramatic volcanic scenery in South America, with peaks rising over 5,000 meters against the characteristic clear blue sky of the Puna ecosystem.
